Dr. Carola Gómez-Rodríguez
I am an Associate Professor of Ecology in the Department of Functional Biology and a researcher at the Cross-disciplinary Research Center in Environmental Technologies (CRETUS), University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain).
As a macroecologist with a community perspective, I study the relevance of different eco-evolutionary mechanisms in shaping the spatial and temporal distribution of biological diversity at broad (from regional to global) scales.
In my research, I use both comparative and integrative approaches, combining molecular, ecological and phylogenetic data, in my research. A key question I try to answer is how diversity patterns are related to organismal traits associated with niche filtering or dispersal processes. I am also particularly interested in developing the theoretical background and methodology for inferring ecological processes from the spatial genetic structure of full biological communities.
I am also a Mum in Biodiversity Science (@madresBDV).
